What People are Saying:

“The HIMALI Altitude Parka is probably the best jacket you have never heard of. The small Boulder-based company HIMALI has been hitting the market with quality products that were developed from experience climbing and guiding in the highest peaks of the Himalayas. The Altitude Parka is purpose-built to help you access the most inhospitable peaks on earth and everything in between.”

“It’s probably not true, but I think HIMALI’s Altitude Down Parka was specifically made for me. I am a perma-cold type of person that suffers through every winter. Wearing this long, cozy parka every day made this atypical cold Moab spring so much more bearable. I was always comfortable if the temps were low and the winds were high, even sitting still during a long belay I stayed nice and warm.”

What People are Saying:

“This is a warm, lightweight, well thought-out jacket. A single drawcord hood adjusts the front and tightens a halo to keep the hood in place quickly and easily. YKK zippers throughout, and a silky feel to the fabric round it out. This would be a great insulating layer for winter use, and is a fine outer layer for cold days and shoulder season chills. The integrated pocket stuff sack is a cool bonus, but it would be great to have the option to remove it with some sort of a larks head connection. Having a stuff sack dangling in the left hand pocket is a bit awkward.”
- Anthony, HIMALI customer

“Super warm, super light, packs down small! Will be great for backpacking and more. Packs into its own pocket which is about the size of a Nalgene (maybe even smaller).”
- Doug, HIMALI customer

“I hadn't heard of this brand but took a chance and ordered this as a replacement for my lightweight down hoody that I use for high altitude backpacking/bikepacking in the summer and wear casually as an outer layer in milder, dry (but windy) winter temps. Really pleased overall with the quality of this one, especially at this price point! Love that it's windproof (except I notice some draft around the zipper) and has good loft. Feels like a great warmth-to-weight ratio. Collar is high enough to tuck your face into. Material is high quality and has a nice soft hand. Sleeves are long enough for my long arms. And I LOVE the color choices, neutral/muted options (that aren't black) can be hard to find in women's performance outerwear! A few quibbles: the hood is a little short for my proportions. Volume is fine, but the length from the shoulders (where it attaches to the body of the jacket) to the top of the hood is short (if that makes sense), so that with the hood up, I notice the shoulder seam pulls up a bit. No room for a helmet. The stuff sack is sewn in to the left pocket, which in theory is nice as you'll never lose it, but I'm starting to be annoyed by having this weird extra material in my pocket whenever I put my hands in there or need to pull something out. It would be easy to cut out without damaging the jacket material, though. I'll definitely look to this brand when I need to replace my more serious down hoody (for extreme/colder conditions), too!”

“All you could ask for and more. I mainly use this down when climbing or snowboarding, and it's soooooo warm. Not only that, but the fit is very stylish and trim, exactly how I like it. Very high quality product, and I received a handwritten note from the team thanking me. How cool! This is the down hoody to replace all down hoodies that you might already own.”

“This is great for winter hiking in negative degree days. This is a great product. It fits perfectly and the hood fits snug to not allow cold breeze in. I hike in the NY Adirondack High Peaks in winter. This puffy jacket is always in my pack all winter long. When I need to use it I am really grateful to have it. I am a toasty happy hiker. I feel if I needed to spend the night in the woods due to an injury, with my other Himali layers and this puffy jacket I could survive, which is the most important factor.”
- Serena, HIMALI customer

“As I started to do more summit camps on the Scottish mountains, (Scotland being very cold) I quickly learnt that I needed to pack a lot lighter in terms of equipment and clothing, but also needed clothing that was going to keep me warm in -temps. I purchased the Altocumulus Down Jacket 2.0 Hooded in stone Blue, the style and colour of the jacket is beautiful and looks amazing on, many other walkers would comment on my jacket and how it matches my boot laces 😂 I noticed the instant warmth from the jacket especially in the - wind chill. The jacket is very light and breathable and it’s comfortable to move about in without feeling restricted, What I love about it is, it also folds down very small into a bag attached to the inside of the pocket, taking up very minimal room if you need to store this in your backpack when not in use. Although the jacket isn’t waterproof, it didn’t soak through quickly when I’ve been caught in torrential rain on low level walking. Definitely a 10/10 jacket”

What People are Saying:

“Essential for the PNW. What a great layer! I don't think I'll get a chance to push it to its limit this season, but have a real world example that might be useful if you're considering it. A friend and I recently went on a ski tour looking to summit Mt. Hood. Unfortunately, the cloudy forecast trended more towards stormy, and we soon ended up in ~30F weather with consistent 25+mph winds and freezing rain. All of our gear and clothing was covered in a thin layer of ice, and we'd already been skinning for an hour or so in worsening conditions before giving up and turning around. The entire time, I never felt cold with only a synthetic tee and the Ascent hoodie on. Wind resistance is a bit less than a proper shell, but not enough to make a huge difference. Skiing down in these conditions was no issue for the Ascent as well, as far as warmth and wind were concerned. I've worn the Ascent for inbounds skiing as well, and have been VERY impressed with how well it wicks sweat. While the fit is definitely 'athletic' (a layer under this would be a tight fit), simply opening the layer cools you down surprisingly fast. With some other layers I've found it takes time for cold air to circulate and cool me down, and that's not an issue here. When ski touring with the jacket open it doesn't feel like the arms stay warm while the torso is cold; temperature regulation is very even. The Ascent performs so well, and especially for the PNW, feels like an essential layer.”

“An Aerobic Insulator Champion. As an ultra runner and snowshoe runner that competes in winter, this jacket is unreal. I’ve never been warmer just walking around town in the winter and is the perfect jacket for warming up after an ultra or snowshoe race. When running in it, the athletic fit allows for the jacket to move with you and feel less bulky than similar style jackets. I see this jacket as my go-to for cold weather ultra efforts where running in temps from 10 degrees to below zero require a unique set of equipment. This jacket breathes, but keeps you crazy warm and comfortable and excels in such a vast range of temps. Relying on one jacket that can do it all for me is perfect when you have to carry all of your supplies across a cold snow-covered arctic race course! HIMALI is about quality and this jacket is incredible and worth every penny! I’m stoked to be purchasing some more HIMALI gear soon! “
